Northern Chapter Mentoring Scheme 2010

Northern Chapter held a successful Mentoring Scheme Launch on Wed 17th March 2010. The Scheme is being run as a pilot with interested 2nd year BCons Con Mgmt students at Unitec, and industry mentors.

This is a first for Northern Chapter and NZIOB nationally. The scheme has been initiated and implemented by Northern Chapter and we have a very impressive line-up of industry mentors involved! The students are stoked!

We have 12 mentors and 12 students on the list ..and on the night 9 students and 9 mentors were welcomed and paired up at a meet and greet catered function at Oakridge, Unitec. there were welcoming speeches from NC President, Acting HOD Construction and Mentoring guru Lueder Stock and then the Mentoring guidelines were explained and handed out to all of the participants and then away they all went with their first meeting over refreshments.

Lueder did a fantastic job of following up interested mentors and mentorees over the last few months, and co-ordinating this very succesful event. The feedback on the night was great and everyone was very enthusiastic about this new opportunity to learn more about the industry, begin their networking as an up and coming professional, and similarly the mentors were very enthusiastic about getting involved with the students allocated to them.

NZIOB/PLACEMAKERS 2010 GOLF & TENNIS TOURNAMENT

It was a fantastic day...a very successful day at the golf and at the tennis!!

Thank you to all the Golf & Tennis sponsors that helped make this event possible and for all the lovely prizes that were kindly donated. A special thank you to Placemakers our main sponsor.

An event of this scale results from a huge effort of coordination, collaboration and plain good organisation and enthusiasm!! Thank you Trish and Brigitte and all the other people you pulled in to assist at various times, which included Chris Hale, Laura McCullough and Alison Smith .

Thanks too to the cadets from Arrow and Brookfield Multiplex, Ed Stubenitzky and others too I suspect.

NZIOB/KALMAR FISHING CONTEST - 5th March 2010
