The Council
The NZIOB Council consists of a President, President Elect (or Immediate Past President), and two members from each of the Chapter Boards.
At the 2009 Annual General Meeting, Martin Fahey FNZIOB RCM, the Immediate Past Northern Chapter President, was elected National President.
At the 2010 Annual General Meeting, Samir Govind MNZIOB, the Immediate Past Southern Chapter President, was elected the National President Elect.

Martin Fahey FNZIOB RCM - National President
Martin, a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Building and a Registered Construction Manager, is a degree qualified construction executive who has 27 years of civil and commercial construction experience both locally and internationally. Some of his most notable projects have been the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, ASB Bank Stand Eden Park, Auckland Remand Prison, and Botany Town Centre. After a period as Auckland Construction Manager for Mainzeal, he was seconded to the Spring Hill Corrections Facility as CWA Manager. Martin is currently General Manager of Clearwater Construction based in Auckland.

Samir Govind BE(Hons), ME, CPEng, MIPENZ, MNZIOB - National President Elect
Samir has been involved with the Southern Chapter of the NZIOB since 2006 and has served as Southern Chapter President 2008 to 2010, currently the Immediate Past President for the Southern Chapter. During his tenure as the Southern Chapter President he was also ex-offico Trustee of the NZIOB Education Fund for the Southern Chapter. He has also been copted onto the National Board for the Association of Consulting Engineers New Zealand (ACENZ) during 2008/2009.He is a structural chartered professional engineer with over 14 years of experience in the building industry.
Samir is a Technical Director of Beca and manages the Structural group in the Christchurch office which he founded back in 2006. He is well respected for his strong technical and management skills, and was recently acknowledged for his passion and commitment towards th building industry; being named the NZIOB Young Achiever 2007 and the Telecom/ACENZ Future Leader 2007. Samir has also provided many other voluntary services to the building industry, some recent examples include, mentoring for third professional students at the University of Canterbury, on the Telecom/ACENZ Future Leader judging panel, NZIOB preliminary judging panel, and marking the ACENZ Best Practical Student Reports.
