Linda Kestle FNZIOB - Northern Chapter President

Unitec senior lecturer Linda Kestle after recently being appointed president of the northern chapter of the New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB) as well as being admitted as a Fellow of the Institute. Linda, who has a background in architectural consultancy, lectures at Unitec’s Department of Construction in sustainable design and construction, design management, professional business management and undergraduate research supervision.The NZIOB is a multi disciplinary professional institute representing building professionals – it has three chapters, Northern, Central and Southern, a president is appointed to run each of these and there is an overall institute president as well. In her new role, Linda is keen to see the Northern chapter and if possible, the NZIOB overall, increase funding and undertake some “much needed” research and development.

Euan Whitaker MNZIOB - Northern Chapter Activities Co-ordinator

Euan joined the NZIOB as a member in 2005. He was a finalist in the NZIOB Young Achiever of Year in 2007 and subsequently became involved in the activities committee soon thereafter, which he now convenes. He joined the Northern Chapter board in 2008. Euan has been at Brookfield Multiplex for 9 1/2 years, since arriving from the UK in 2000. He is currently the Senior Design Manager.

Warren Chapman MNZIOB - NC President Elect

Warren has significant experience in both Project and Construction Management having entered the industry in 1968 with the Ministry of works and then having spent several years working for Australian and UK based Major Construction entities both in New Zealand and in the UK. Warren joined Mainzeal in 1978 where he has since held several key positions ranging from a Construction Project Manager to a Regional Construction Manager and more recently the National Major Projects Manager and now Mainzeal’s National Business Development Manager. Warren has been involved in the procurement and delivery of many large and complex projects throughout New Zealand as with the pioneering of the Collaborative Working Arrangements seen on several major projects within the NZ industry recently. Warren as an active member of the New Zealand Institute of Building is currently a Northern Chapter Board member and a Councilor on its National Board where he has actively participated in the establishment of the recently established national CPD programme. Warren’s interests range from boating, fishing and music with a slice of international travel thrown in when ever possible.

Ian Marshall FNZIOB - Honorary Treasurer

Ian has worked all his life in the construction industry. Approximately 50% of his career has been involved with international construction. In 2001 – 2002 Ian was the National President of the NZIOB. Ian also holds various other community roles and is a Justice of Peace. Currently Ian is a consultant to various construction organisations
