On the 19th of August 2005, the presidents of both the NZ Institute of Building and the Australian Institute of Building signed a formal Alliance aimed at advancing cooperation between the two organisations for the benefit of their respective members with international interests.
The management of both organisations continue to work together to provide members with NZIOB/AIB access and services.

One of the largest gatherings of the construction industry’s senior management will be at the CONSTRUCT 2009 conference to be held in Sydney over 26 - 28 February 2009. Over two and a half days CONSTRUCT 2009 will address the key issues relevant to all professional builders and other takeholders with an interest in the building and construction industry. Organised by the Australian Institute of Building (AIB), CONSTRUCT 2009 is attended by the CEOs, General Managers and Project Managers from construction firms in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The conference is also relevant to other stakeholders such as quantity surveyors, architects, construction lawyers, building surveyors and academics that have an interest in the future of the building and construction industry.
